Ten years ago, I started to struggle with weight. I would try different weight loss products and programs, but they all seemed to be missing something. Things steadily got worse. About six years ago, I unexpectedly gained a large amount of weight within a three month period. Doctors refused to test me for anything and kept giving the same basic recommendations for healthy eating and exercise. From there, all my health problems started, with a large amount of them stemming from my weight issues.
Fast forward to 2016, and I had enough. I had tried everything I possibly could but was still 100 pounds overweight. I ended up in a deep, dark and scary place where I gave up all hope. I stopped taking care of my body because I thought losing weight was a hopeless endeavor for me. From there, with all self-esteem gone, I stopped getting involved in things. I stayed home as often as I could. It was affecting me, but it was also affecting my husband and my child.
However, in 2017 my life changed.
After growing up in church, followed by walking away from God for many years, I found my way back. Jesus changed my life and turned it upside down. Nothing in my life changed, everything was still hard, but I gained a spirit inside of me that gave me the courage to tackle anything coming my way.
Of course, it took me a whole extra year to realize that just as I felt that Jesus was the missing puzzle piece in my life, He was also my missing puzzle piece in weight loss. After months of prayer and devoting myself to His word, he pressed onto me a weight loss plan that was too good not to share.
This could be the missing piece for you as well. We easily give our cares to God. We pray for our friends and family. We go to Him when times are tough. However, do we make him front and center of our weight loss issues?
